I would read this a million times over for the first time if I could.
Cameron had always been able to hear other people's voices in her head and know what everyone around her was thinking. Her grandma kept her trapped in one town after another trying to hide. That is until she met Lewis and realized her grandma and her were not the only ones with their abilities. Now being watched by Aaron, a man who knew her parents, she has to did cypher the people who are good and the ones that are bad.
The book had an interesting concept overall. The characters seemed a little too disconnected from their story lines while the plot harmed so easily things fell into place.
Cameron seemed too naive corner own good which did not entirely fit in with her lifestyle because she wasn't so sheltered by her grandma to the point of ridiculous. I always had a weird sense about Lewis and just like Cameron said I never really could fully trust him.
Note: I received this book free from amazon.

I know Lori Brighton as I have read some of her books before, although not in the YA genre, so I was willing to give this a go. I am pleased to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book with all its twists and turns and cliffhanger ending!
The characters are all fully dimensional and have their own individual flaws which just makes the read more pleasurable. Cameron is hard to define as there were parts in the beginning where I didn't really like her but as the story unfolds and you see how she deals with her power and how hard she is trying to fit in, the things she does and says start to make more sense.
Lewis is also a great character and the two sides of him were perfectly described. I found myself completely alongside Cameron as she tried to discover more about herself, Lewis, Aaron and the whole "mind reading" business in general.
So many interesting characters who I want to know more about, the red herrings, the continuing story ... I want it all. Books 2 and 3 added to my wishlist!!! Wonderful writing.

So I kind of had high hopes for this book, it had been a long time since I'd read anything remotely like this. I'd kind of gone on a 'stay away' from young adult books for a while, just purely so I could appreciate them more when I came back to them.
This book was good enough, it was action packed, in the action parts, it kind of stopped and started. The action was really good, very fast paced, when there was action bits, it seemed to stop after you'd had a piece of the action in this story. It tended to pull me out of the book when the action stopped, like it was a massive jolt and always pulled me out of the actual story, which is a shame because the book had a lot of potential.
The summary read differently to anything I had read in a long time, and it did sort of live up to that hype, it was very different to what you'd normally read. But then in the same instance it's exactly every cliche you'd think of for this kind of book.
The main character actually at some points really annoyed me, because there were times where she was moping after the boy and it was so very obvious (even the book spelt out that this boy was no good, wasn't going to change for her) that this wasn't the 'good guy' of the book. So when she spends about two chapters moping after him, when she should have been getting on with things, yeah just grated on my nerves a little bit.
The book it self wasn't dreadful I still enjoyed it, I still read it all, there were moments that irritated me and moments that made me want to read more. I don't know if I'll be reading the next few books, but overall it was an okay read and am glad I finished it.

The world felt a tad bland and the character relationship developments felt rushed but the plot was there. It kept me hooked and I did like the main character. I felt she was growing throughout the novel. Again, the main couple irked me a little because I wanted to be more invested than I am. But maybe it’ll get better in the next books.
Ultimately, this was a good quick read with a compelling plot. I’d recommend if you enjoy books abt teens with special abilities.

Like the stars say, this book was ok. There was a lot of hair-raking, a lot. I mean, every few pages. And the main character had the annoying characteristic of thinking of everyone else on the face of the planet as self-centered and petty, when she is herself annoyingly self-centered. Also just to warn you, she cries a lot, and gets nauseous quite frequently. I immediately thought the author had read Twilight and expanded on the mind-reading concept, which is so interesting! But the character did very little with her ability aside from whine about how hard it was to be able to do it, and manipulate popular people in to being her friend, the whole while despising them. Wouldn't it have been more interesting to have someone good natured, who used her power to help people who were lonely or afraid or in need of help but couldn't ask for it? Nah. I liked the plot enough to wonder what will happen, it was a quick fun read, but it could be so much better!
When I finished this book I was so sad to see that the second book actual cost something on kindle! I love this book! It's amazing! Cute and very well-written/thought out. I still think of this book from time to time, very memorable and great novel all around.
