BookBub freebie. Good enough that I bought the rest of the series (just like they wanted.....)
It doesn't deserve not even a half start for wasting my time ...
Great premise
For the most part, I enjoyed the book. Some parts that I didn’t enjoy seemed very YA, which is fitting. The last chapter has me interested in continuing the series though.

I loved it! I did not want to put it down! the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because as not amused by the ending.
Cameron Winters has always been the freak mind reader trying desperately to appear normal. Then one day, Lewis shows up and tells her that there are others like her. Defying her grandmother, whose only wish is to protect her, she runs away with Lewis for the promise that Aaron, her father's friend, will be able to teach her all that she needs to know about how to use her powers and to protect herself.
I downloaded this on one of my frequent "free download" sprees and opened it only today as I had a long transit at the airport. The book had me engrossed and I'm off to get the second one to continue the story!

A decent book although i would not say it was a favorite.
I liked this book, previous readers are right into the fact that it did remind me of the novel Dark Powers by L.S. Smith except this book had a new twist ... personally I wouldn't read the second book. I just didn't like the ending of the first one and don't see how it could get better :S If you read it it's a great intresting book just not one for me ... goodluck :)
Cameron has had the ability to read minds her entire life of anyone she has ever met except for her grandmother, a fellow mind reader, until some new guy comes in from who knows where right after a murder hits the town. He says that he is one a fellow Mind Reader and that there are hundreds of them. They also have to remain vigilant from the S.P.I because they want to keep her like a caged animal and run all kinds of tests on her.
Most importantly though, he wants to show her how to use her powers so that no one else can read her mind and she doesn't always have to hear other's thoughts. Just the gift of silence is enough to convince her once she knows that Aaron, the owner and leader of the Mind Readers was a friend of her dead fathers. The question is who is really right and who is wrong? Who should be trusted?
This is an amazing book and I don't know if to trust the Grandmother or if to trust S.P.I. or even Aaron. Who is really the bad guy and who is just not understood? I hope all of this is answered in book 2....

I don't know how to start my review about this book, in all honesty.
When I read the title, I thought this is just some book with predictable story and twists and plot twists. Because the title doesn't seem to be catchy or curious or anything. But, man, was I wrong!
The story got me hooked from the very first page. It's the reason why I managed to finish the book in 2-3 days’ time despite going to school to have myself enrolled in my classes. And yes, while waiting at the administration building of my school to pay for my tuition, I was reading this book. I just couldn't stop because every word seemed to stay inside my head. It has a very unique and interesting story.
At first, Cameron seemed to be normal to me considering her being the lead character. Like I don’t get excited or anything. She didn’t have a pull on me to love her character. Especially when she shows how Lewis influences her. But even though it’s already in the middle of the book, she still doesn’t have a pull on me. The tone of the book gave a feeling that she's a prodigy, the most powerful mind reader in the book, but it took her mostly 90% of the book before unleashing her power. And yes, I was waiting for her to unleash her power.
However, when she did finally unleash her power, her mind reading powers, she didn’t reach my expectations. She still seem weak to me but finally, she gave me that pull. Though it’s a little too late because the book was ending.
The part I hate the most here is when her memory was wiped out. Not her entire memory but some. I didn’t like it. I didn’t like it in a way that it’s already ending but it’s like I’m reading the beginning again. But at some point, I know why Ms. Lori did it. It somehow made me eager to read the second book. And yes, I will definitely read the rest of the series.
The Mind Readers didn’t have me hooked because of its characters just like some other books I’ve read before. But The Mind Readers have me hooked because of its story. It’s not every day I stumble upon a book about mind reading. This is actually the first book I’ve read with this kind of theme. Books are indeed different from one another. And all books have different worlds.
