enjoyed every minute of this book.

Everyone seems to have given this book glowing reviews. I think I need to read her first book before I can delve into this one - I feel like I'm missing a lot of context.

Great writing, and a fascinating story.

idk I tried very hard to love this and I truly expected it to! excellent writing, just wasn’t for me. struggled to actually be interested

Jeanette Winterson is my favorite author, and here it is deeply moving to hear her tell her story with a voice that is both honest and well honed with her craft. She had a truly challenging upbringing as a lesbian daughter of a Pentecostal family but she found a home in words that brought her to be beloved both personally and professionally for her artistry.

I wanted to like this, especially, because my sister now lives in Alaska. Alas, I didn't.
