oh WOW

This book moved me deeply. I found that Jeanettes childhood, intensely mirrored my own. Jeanette was able to put into words, feelings and experiences that are just vaguely present in my mind.

I loved this book, but it also had a deeply emotional impact on me. Hearing of these events happening to someone else really puts into perspective how violent, how awful, how wrong so much of it was.

Yet; it’s nice to know that we aren’t all alone. There’s others out there who love deeply even though we didn’t receive that in our formative years.

Beautifully written, bookmarked so many passages to go back to.

There were parts of this book that I enjoyed, parts that were very slow. Curious and thought-provoking, and an insightful look into the northern england dynamics that I don't know much about in theory but I think I am closer to than I realize as there are parallels to growing up in the rust-belt around working-class religious zealots.

This book was beautiful. I wish I had the vocabulary to describe just how beautiful it was.

Once I got to the last quarter I just couldn't put it down, I had to know the ending.

This book is incredible!
The writing is soooooooooo amazing and the story, the way it is told to us, is so vulnerable and tender. It's also incredibly funny. I love Winterson's tone and the metaphors she choses show the reader her interior world. One minute I'm crying (it's a sad story) the next I'm laughing.

A wonderful writer, brave enough to show us her shadow.

I'll definitely be reading it again!

"There's lots of talk about the tame world versus the wild world. It is not only a wild nature that we need as human beings; it is the untamed open space of our imaginations. Reading is where the wild things are."

Couldn't agree more, J.W. Couldn't agree more.

Léase después de leer Oranges are not the only fruit, o léase para leer Oranges are not the only fruit. O léase nomás porque sí.
