I loved the format of this book! I’ve read a few books that offer an alternative to the usual prose and they’re always so intriguing. This was one was no different and I read it in 24 hours.

Whilst I was right with my deduction of the culprit, the journey to getting there was so much fun. Lots of red herrings and messy connections along with a real shocker in the last two pages!

Absolutely hated the format, especially as an audiobook. First it’s just massive info dumping on you with a BUNCH of different characters while reading their entire resumes etc. Then each character gets a different narrator, and you’re apparently supposed to instantly recognize/remember who is who after each of their info dumps bc it doesn’t tell you who is talking (plus some had thicker accents, which made it even more difficult to follow along since I have audio processing issues). I barely read the actual synopsis and did not realize most of the book was going to be like this. I might’ve made it through reading an ebook, but listening to it as an audiobook was a confusing nightmare. Nope nope nope

I was amazed by this book, especially because of the epistolary storytelling that captured every beat of the story perfectly. Even more, it's a contemporary story, introducing the making of a true crime show.
Not only do we get to see the members of the crew working on the case, but we get a glimpse of the production process, the importance of cliffhangers in a TV show like this, as well as how far some may go to manipulate for a perfect TV.
On top of that is the cold case the team is working on, which has tighs to the director.

This book would be much better to listen as an audiobook, than reading it.

oh this was FUN! such a unique murder mystery book, i found myself audibly gasping the entire time. usually im not a fan of authors throwing a million plot twists around but the interview/docuseries style writing made it acceptable

I absolutely loved the way this one was written; the reader gets to go along for the ride of solving this 20 year old murder with all the clues the detectives have.

There is a lot of information and it all adds to the story in some way, even as a diversion to build more suspense. This a proper 'page-turner' because you just need to know what happens next, or have the want to follow the new batch of clues.

I will definitely pick up another book from this author.

I guessed the culprit very early on and most of the shock reveals felt very ineffective — I wasn't shocked.

Also the typewriter font was effing awful to read especially in a rather long book like this

Quite an enjoyable book written in a docu series format that enhances the storytelling and intrigue towards the mystery.
