Quite the ride, "The Riftwar Saga." Mr. Feist keeps you guessing right up to the end. Stories within stories and never a dull moment. Sorcery, demons, magic, evil which gives a new definition to evil and of course those who battle darkness. Elves, dwarves, nasty trolls, goblins and a host other imaginative beings.

Fantasy at its best. Characters who serve up a gourmet meal of many courses.

I really enjoyed this one. On the edge of my seat for most of it and wondering how large the death toll was going to be, especially on characters that I have really grown to love. But the death toll wasn't too horrible and the plot was epic. I really love all of the twists that took place, it was amazing.

So this one ends what started in [book:Silverthorn]. It keeps up the pace and is loaded with "impending doom". I could do without the time-travel and other dimensional stuff but I did like the overall background plotting. My biggest problem is that none of the characters really stick out with unique personalities other than Amos Trask. At times it gets hard to remember the differences between some of the characters.

Overall this series was better than I thought it would be but I think it's time to move on to another author and another universe. I read too slow. But eventually I'll probably return to read the 5th book and it will bring back fond memories of the other books.

Feist is a big yapper tbh, this trilogy could probably have been a book shorter. However, the actual story? straight fire. Well written characters, multiple diverging stories lines, and a final section that I read in one go.

And what’s more, this actually had 3 useful women in it (2 more than the last book), however one was in fact a dragon (a nice one tho).

Another really good story which is just leaving me wanting more! I wasn't sure if the author could keep the storyline interesting for the full three books without getting repetitive or seeming forced, but he did - it was just as exciting as the others and he brought in just a bit of information on the chaos wars that I really want to read about them now. I am looking forward to the next trilogy from him, but am a little sad because I assume I am leaving this cast of characters behind, and frankly I am going to miss them.

So. Many. Sieges. I started skipping over them, I got to a point where I really could no longer be bothered to read about one more brave horseback sally or goblins entering the bailey or bowmen firing wave after wave at relentless attackers. I get it, it’s all terrible, the good guys are super brave, the bad guy is super evil, tell me who wins and let’s get on with some actual plot.

That said, I liked reading the non-siege-y parts. I still should have stopped after the first book, these last two were ok but not as good as the first.
