I was hoping for more. I wasn't expecting much but this kind of let me down. It is mostly a not quiet as good version of the Lux series. I liked the aspect of the elements and the powers. But at the beginning the magic system is just thrown at you and you have the rest of the book to figure it out for yourself. I liked how Adam was walking into walls and all flustered by Caitlin at the beginning. I really like Caitlin, she better be told about all this. I love the dad but I definitely better be told about this. (I do NOT want a replay of Katy's problems!!!) One thing I didn't really like was I thought some of Megan's conversations with her dad were way to stereotypical. I also really thought the crow was Adam. I will be reading the sequel.

Megan has just moved to Ireland with her father, and for once in her life she feels at ease in this new place. At her new school she meets some really great friends, and the DeRís kids. The rumors say they might be witches, and by the strange things that have been happening since Meghan arrived, she is starting to believe it. But most strange is the intense attraction she feels for Adam DeRís.

I had a hard time staying interested in this one. First, it is very Twilight-esque...and that's all I say before the Twihards rain on me. Second, I didn't like how the Meghan was immediately panting after Adam DeRís by the third chapter. And they hadn't even spoken! Their romance was like not there a minute, and totally there the next and ZOMG I'LL DIE WITHOUT YOU. Sigh. I wouldn't have minded much if I'd swooned over Adam too. But I didn't because there wasn't anything to swoon about other than the fact that he is hot. Actually I feel like I never connected with any of the characters. Megan was a so-so heroine, Adam was a so-so romantic interest, and the others didn't get enough air time for me to like or dislike them.

The elemental powers themselves were pretty cool. Adam, Aine and Rian are pretty badass at manipulating the elements. But it was kind of confusing even with the long winded explanations and everything. The problems that come with having the powers are interesting, but the action is only in the very last part of the book and by then I didn't really care.

I wanted to much to like this (I love myths that involve the four elements), but it just didn't happen. There's a lot of potential though, and hopefully the next book will explode with it and wow you all to bits. Sadly this series has lost me here.

Carrier of the Mark was a really good book when it came to contrasting and communication between the characters. There were a few things that kind of annoyed me. Like when Adam tells Megan that he feels this strange pull between them that draws them together. I mean, they barely said two words to each other and out of the blue its like "I can't live without, don't leave me". *sigh* I don't want to sound harsh but gosh! Anyways, later on the book I started to really like it and enjoy the action and performace of it. I can't wait to read the next one! (maybe)

To be honest i only bought this book because of the pretty cover! I mean come on! Look at that beautiful cover!

But I think the "do not judge a book by it's cover" comes in handy here. I was a little disapointed actually. I thought at first that a kid was writing this book. The dialog was just too childish and NOT believable. It anoyed me a lot and I was close to giving up sometimes.

Although this book was a fairly good read, I felt that it followed the mold of many other books. I also felt it lacked a little detail of how Megan actually made friends. Its a typical fantasy romance where the girl falls for a 'darkly handsome guy' who has a hidden secret. I finished it quickly as it didn't really capture me. I think it's a little too much like other books for me to actually enjoy the writers style.

After forcing myself to push through the lovey-dovey, Twilight-wannabe, clichéd teen romance crap at the beginning, this book turned out to be OK. Not exceptional, nor was it as bad as other Meyer-inspired drivel i have read before. Due to this, i will stay the passing of judgement on this series until i have read the next book. Could potentially go either way...
