This was more slice of life than I was expecting, but in a way I really enjoyed. The magical zoo was such a cool setting to be in, I loved getting to explore and experience the world and all the animals. Archie was my favorite character, of course, but I loved all the other animals at the zoo too, especially Rubra! (and the people were okay too, I guess ; ))

If you're not a fan of low-stakes fantasy, this book may not be for you, but if you want a cozy read with beautiful birds and an anxious bisexual mess of a main character, definitely give The Pheonix Keeper a try!
