Albeit I want to give this a five star read, something holds me back from giving it that pedestal for me. But I digress, this book was beautiful. Our MC was perfectly relatable and unrelatable, both making me feel seen and teaching me new perspectives to hold more empathy in my heart for others. The family portrayed in this book is beautiful. And you can really feel the love for the animals in this book.

This is such a sweet and fun book. I loved the characters and their relationships - friendships, romance, and love for their animals. And I loved diving into the world and all the magical & mundane animals 🥰 overall a great time (even if I was stressing for the characters on and off throughout)

- MC acts like a teen so much and complained about her job so much that I started to wonder why she was even working there (also couldn't stand the mention of her "twig" arms after the second time)
- Human-centric (duh, but I really cringed at Aila crying after the phoenixs were stolen)
- The dialogue was just not good
- Personally, I didn't like that the animals was the ONLY magical aspect of this world, could've taken place in our world tbh
