Easy to listen to, makes you want to eat more local and think about your environment more!

If you've read Michael Pollan or other books about food, much of this will feel repetitious. I'm wishing she wrote more about herself and her family and not so much about food systems. I enjoyed the part about Turkeys quite a lot.

Read it. Even if you're not ready to make a commitment to change your eating habits, read it to appreciate where your food comes from. Or should come from. And read it because it's funny. You won't regret it!

An inspiring tale of eating locally that, at first, seems impossible but, by the end, seems doable.

Strawberries in winter? Mangoes in Chicago? You'll look at food differently once you read this book.

I would read pretty much anything Barbara Kingsolver writes...to do lists, grocery lists, whatever. This book was pretty inspirational and a really fun look into her family life. It was one of the first books that made me get serious about eating locally and understanding how my food purchases can shape food policy in this country.

I found the book to be very interesting...Kingsolver and family went homegrown/local for an entire year. While that is amazing, not everyone can do that. Yet,I found there were many ways I could change our food habits and, in general, became more informed about what we put in our bodies. Definitely has enough facts to make turn a reader into a wild-eyed, label reader, but if you can incorporate some changes they suggest...success!

I got into this book while I was on a foodie kick, shortly after reading Michael Pollan's Omnivore's Dilemma. This was better. Kingsolver tells a great story, whether it is hers or someone else's.
