This book is slow moving, no real plot develops. It’s more like an anticlimactic day in the life of someone. When the two main characters finally realize they’re going to be together, it takes half of a page to get them together and finish the book.

Love the cover and the fun description. This was an easy read that I finished in a day. I loved Charlotte and Jack and how well of a team they make. The wishing bracelet was a cute idea but weren't the wishes supposed to come true once it fell off? Her first two happened within days of getting the bracelet. Whereas Jack's was ripped off way earlier and I expected his story to go down south really fast after that.

When they were in Brazil, it was fun and different but I felt like it was too much time focusing on it there especially when it didn't really do much for the overall story. I kept skimming pages ahead to see if there were any text messages from Jack.

I was happy overall but it ended way too quickly and there should've been an epilogue at least! This was my first book by Bell, I would read more of her books. This is an LDS fiction and LDS elements were a part of it. All of the 'saying a quick prayer' while LDS could've been fine without it.

Wish Me Love by Michele Ashman Bell is a good choice for those days when you want a sweet, light read full of fluff and fun!

Charlotte and Jack are two best friends – Charlotte is still recovering from a badly-broken engagement while Jack and his fiancee are trying to nail down their own wedding plans. In an effort to detour Charlotte from the lonely path she’s currently on, Jack issues her a challenge: Go on fifty first dates. And let me tell you – those dates? Hilarious. Poor Charlotte. It’s really a wonder she keeps speaking to Jack.

I did wish for a little more emotional depth to the characters. Their dialogue often comes across as very one-dimensional, and the ending feels a bit anti-climactic after all is said and done. It’s very sweet, don’t get me wrong. It made me happy and it reminded me of my relationship with my husband. But I needed something a little more layered, even if this is a light read.

Bottom Line: Wish Me Love by Michele Ashman Bell is cute and sweet. I loved Charlotte’s relationship with her friends and her family, as well as her excitement over her new home. Her dates made for some great laughs, and her friendship with Jack is tender and fun. The LDS terms and circumstances scattered throughout did slow my reading a bit, since they are unfamiliar to me and not really explained. And as I’ve mentioned, I wished it had been more dimensional overall. Still, this is a nice weekend read – light, fun, and romantic!

08/14/2017 -- Won this book from the publisher on Facebook.

09/21/2017 -- Received this book in the mail today.

12/05/2017 -- This is a very idea, but the premise on the back of the book of 50 first dates (which is what drew me to the book initially) actually has very little to do with the main story line. Instead, it veers off into two different directions from that, so I felt like the cover blurb was misleading. That said, I enjoyed the writing, the characters, the transition to Brazil, and the few first dates that Charlotte did go on. I laughed and enjoyed the humorous situations that Charlotte found herself in. The content is very LDS-focused, so some readers without an LDS Church background may struggle with understanding and following some of those and the baptism part of the story (this isn't a negative to the book, just a comment so that non-LDS readers can be aware if any read my review). I really did enjoy the story and the characters and the resolution at the end. A great clean and fun, entertaining read.
