Pretty good thriller. Kept me guessing and I liked the parallel narration.

Pretty good, engaging mystery. Not my favorite by them, though.

This book was nothing short of what is expected from Hendricks & Pekkanen. The shocking ending is expected and not expected. It's expected as it's what Hendricks & Pekkanen does best. It's like the seed of a pepper. The spiciness is expected, but it still gives you a chill when you get there. Some characters are more developed than others. As the title would tell you, the main focus is between Marissa and Matthew. Avery's character is harder to figure out. She's very translucent as a character, yet at the same time her character has a very high mystery that confuses me, but in a good way. I do think that Avery's side story doesn't add anything to her character and seems to be an extra storyline that is unnecessary to me. I would have loved to see Avery's character more developed. She doesn't have a back story. Overall, it's a must-read story.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I vacillated between 3 and 4 so let’s say 3.5. Maybe it’s because I trust real therapy but Avery seemed suspicious to me, which I think tinged the whole book.
