This was ok. It was a little too meandering and didn’t really have an exciting ending. There were a lot of puzzle pieces to the story, but the way they fit together just didn’t feel like it worked out in a way that mattered.

Great book - many moving pieces throughout the story but it never felt unwieldy. An easy read that I never wanted to put down.

“That’s an Instagram post. Give me something real.” Marissa flinches. In those few words, Avery has cut to the core of what their marriage has become: curated moments served up in public, while in private the emptiness between them slowly expands.”

This is my third book that I’ve read by this duo and it was also the one that would determine if I would continue picking up their books since I liked one and disliked the other. I’m happy to report that I really enjoyed this one!

The Golden Couple is about this wealthy couple, Marissa and Matthew Bishop. They are having issues in their marriage and decide to see Avery, a therapist who lost her license due to past actions. Avery now uses unorthodox methods to help her clients and she has fans and critics alike. Both the Bishops and Avery have secrets to keep and as they get to know each other more. Those secrets eventually come out and it appears that the Bishop’s marriage is not the only thing in danger.

I really had an amazing time with this book. It is truly a fun, entertaining read. All of the characters were interesting and with all of them hiding these secrets from the others, it made it even more exciting for me. Avery was definitely my favorite character. She was someone who had her own secrets for sure, but I got this feeling that she genuinely wanted to help her patients, even though she crossed a lot of lines for sure.

One thing that made this so fun for me were the multiple red herrings that were throughout the story. This made it more exciting to try to guess who was in the wrong. As for the twist at the end, I did guess it before we got there, though I didn’t guess everything, but it was done very well in my opinion. The build up and how it was revealed was so good.

What I will say is that if you don’t like reading about unlikeable characters then you will probably not like Marissa or Matthew. There were moments where each of them were annoying and seemed like the problem in their relationship. This didn’t bother me because I don’t have to like characters in order to enjoy a book, but I know that isn’t the case for every reader.

I really don’t have much else to say about this besides that it was a good time and was exactly what I was looking for in a mystery/thriller.

Quick and enjoyable read, more like a 3.5.

I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough - I was really drawn in and couldn’t pinpoint what I thought was going on. The ending was one I definitely didn’t see coming, but it also wasn’t that believable to me and made me feel skeptical toward everything I’d read to get to that point… but it kept me entertained, so there’s that.

A very unsatisfactory ending. There was so much buildup, very little payoff. I’ve enjoyed the rest of Greer and Sarah’s books, so I hope the next one will be more to my liking.

Rounded up from 2.5 for I don’t know what reason. So boring and predictable. Bad, lazy writing- “6 o’clock PM” drove me nuts. Sigh.

A thrilling page turner that face-plants at the end. Amazing start and second act, though.

My favorite book by this author duo!! Those twists and turns; damn!!

A marriage at a crossroads and a therapist with unusual methods, makes for an intriguing read. Things are not as they seem and things get pieced together bit by bit. This was a quick read for me, I enjoyed it.
