Such a great book! Love the short chapters. Had me hooked immediately and such a surprising ending. Would definitely recommend.

First book of the new year and it wasn’t as “golden” as I hoped. Nice little thriller, but way too much going on and it wrapped up all too neatly.

Ok I LOVED this. Parts were a little long, but a solid 4.5 (GOODREADS LET ME HALF RATE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF LIBRARIES AND PIXIES). Even though I saw the ending coming, I loved how it was done, loved the storylines and how they wove together. Too many coincidences or it's truly a small world?

Spoiler3.5. I loved this book until the last hour or so. Until that point it was an interesting character study and had some twists that kept me guessing. The ending accelerated too quickly and seemed to come out of nowhere. It spoiled the rest of the book for me.

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have become one of my few "must read" authors. I loved "The Wife Between Us" and "The Anonymous Girl-" unfortunately, "The Golden Couple" was my least favorite book by them.

My biggest issue is that I never felt connected with any of the characters- the story goes between two different perspectives. The story mainly centers around Marissa, who has cheated on her husband and is now dedicated to couple's therapy. The other perspective is Avery, her psychologist, who has had her license taken away and offers a non-conventional approach to resolving Marissa's issues. Both women are not particularly likeable, and their supporting cast isn't much better. Throughout the book, it didn't matter to me what the mystery was because I didn't feel like the story was moving in any particular direction. I kept expecting something to happen.

The conclusion wasn't as surprising/wow-ing as Hendricks and Pekkanen's previous works. The way that everything was resolved/connected made the world very small. I found the story of Marissa and her husband to be concluded well, but Avery's side story connection seemed to come out of nowhere and was very convenient.

I would happily read anything that these ladies write- I know I am in the minority for not enjoying this book, but I still really enjoy the writing style and hope that I'll enjoy their next book more. :) Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for an advanced copy of this book.

Listened to this one in audiobook and really enjoyed it! I felt like the author gave enough reasonable doubt about everyone that I really didn’t know what was going to happen until it did!
