An enjoyable foray into the women who shaped one of my favourite authors. I have added several of these influential women to my TBR and I look forward to exploring for myself the joy that Ramsey herself found in engaging with the authors who shaped Austen's world.

I am so glad spent time with this book. I was the kid in HS that didn’t read any of the classic literature and barely got through my required courses only to discover as an adult that I love reading and love the classics. I have read and reread all of the works by Jane Austen and others but have wondered why she was one of the few I knew about and now I understand so much better as well as have a number of other books to read. I also have a new way of defending the Austen’s works being listed as a great. I love the authors’ use of “Yes and” rather than yes or no. Yes Jane Austen is a great author and there were also others, more than women of the time are given credit.  This is well worth the read!
