even though i’m in the reading slump of the century, i ADORED this book!!! it was so insightful, and so knowledgable, and interesting, and ugh. i enjoyed stepping into the world of book collecting and selling, i was fascinated by how big that world apparently is. as someone who has been in the book world for a hot minute, i had no idea. i loved the author and her narration of the audiobook. i loved how she dedicated plenty of time to each of the authors mentioned, and i left this book with a bigger tbr than i went into it with. the way the author spoke of each author and each work felt very refreshing, not only when it related to austen but also when it didn’t. i loved the concept of this book, and how well-executed it was. even though what linked these women together seemingly at first was jane austen, they turned out to be all intertwined in one way or another, and the conversation about each of them grew so much more beyond austen. the way the author didn’t shy away from both the good and bad side of these women, while respecting what they had to do to get where they were. how for some writing was creative, while for others it was their only way of surviving, just beyond respectful and it filled me with admiration. i simply cannot recommend this book enough, it will for sure be in my top 10 of the year, it was exactly what i wanted and so much more, i can’t rave about it enough.
