okay this book was SO millennial and cringe at the beginning i really considered putting it down but i did get into it!
i came looking for a simple romance and that’s what i got so not really any huge complaints.
secondhand embarrassment was strong but i guess that means i was invested? characterization was a little weak but overall it was pretty nice time

I liked it, but not as much as Ali's other books. I did feel almost like I was reading the same story with a different setting. Nothing inherently wrong with that, but on this occasion it did feel like another  repetition of Ali's formula for her books.
However, I thoroughly enjoyed it either way. The characters were really funny and lovable, which you can always count on Ali to deliver.

I think we have all figured out at this point that whatever Ali Hazelwood writes I'm gonna read and probably love. This was no exception. Even more, this was one of my favourites of her. When I left high school despising anything related to science I would've never thought I would end up reading romance books based on scientific characters. But here we are, searching up on the internet what in the world are liquid crystals and other complex scientificic terms. I don't regret a single thing, I've never been more invested in academia drama. Another thing I love about Ali Hazelwood's novels is that they have the perfect amount of smut and the relationship pace also feels so correct.

I'll be coming back soon after reading Check & Mate. ;)

I've seen Ali Hazelwood everywhere without ever picking up one of her works.
I'm super glad I did.
I agree that this is not groundbreaking or revolutionary in any way, but I got exactly what I was promised.
This is a fun romance, the FMC is quirky and cute, and the MMC is tall and handsome. Elsie is a people pleaser who was relatable in some ways and fun to read about; I'd also like to point out that the STEM and physics part of the story felt real and I could see that AH knew what she was writing about and didn't invent some unrealistic stuff.
And even if it's not the best book ever, it made me laugh, it made me happy and the vibes deserve a good rating.
