Such a great story and plot!! Loved Hayden's story and everything she overcame!
I really did enjoy this book but there were also some things that annoyed me. Like the harvester, this book's villain. I was very surprised to learn that therewere other magical creatures in this story, but it wasn't a pleasant sort of surprise. If there had only been some sort of referance in the other books to other magical beings then I would have had no problem with it at all. But as it is, this was the first time you ever heard about something that wasn't a Shifter. And that was quite irritating. It sort of felt like, since BioChrome was destroyed in the last book, the author needed a new villain and decided to invente something new. Not good. Especially because it wasn't fully described. I had no real knowledge of what it was or why it was Hayden it was interested in. Not good either. But other than that Rachel Hawthorne still had my attention.
fast-paced
Going into this book i was skeptical because the last three books revolved around a group of friends and this one is about people who are outsiders of that group, but I really enjoy the book I did find a couple of things that don't make sense in the series and I am mad at this book, but I really did enjoy reading even with challenging my self about halfway through it the last night I read it to finish it before my husband came home it still didn't feel like a chore it just was a fun read. two things that don't fit perfectly with the series as a whole is a.) the villain there no hint to it anywhere in the other books and b.) daniel the way his character is in this book threw me through a loop a bit in the book before he was so nice and understanding otherwise i like i said i enjoy reading this book it kept my attention, but it, not my fave because for a final it didn't tie up all the loose ends it actually made me want another book from a character that we see more of at the end of this one
Awwwwe darn it! :-( I hate it when a series ends! :-(
I really, Really, REALLY enjoyed this series! What a neat twist this book was! If I say practically anything about this story it will give away VITAL information so this will have to be a super short review!
Let me just say I enjoyed all four books in the series. I have no idea if there are more but I'm ever so happy I grabbed these four off my library's shelf and stashed them in my book bag. What a lucky guess this was! :-)
The characters in this book are completely new to the group but that makes them even more interesting! At least it does in my humble opinion. :-)
Go, grab the books and read the series and tell me if you enjoyed them as much as I have! :-)

What Goodreads.com says:
HAYDEN was born a werewolf, a Dark Guardian. But her ability to sense the feelings of fellow werewolves has made her life unbearable. She runs away, only to be tracked by charming, mysterious Daniel, a newcomer to the pack and the one Shifter immune to her powers. As she reluctantly follows him home, Hayden finds herself falling dangerously in love. . . .
But even as her feelings for Daniel deepen, Hayden begins to wonder if he is who he claims to be. Where did he come from and why has no one ever seen him transform? When they stumble upon the body of a Shifter still in wolf form, her worries grow. Someone is killing her kind. Is her handsome tracker really a hunter? And is Hayden now his prey?

I liked this book more and less than the previous ones. More because I felt there was more of a plot than just the transformation and love drama. Bio chrome never felt that pressing, and they honestly never seemed like much of a match for more than one shifter at a time. Or even one human girl, in Kayla's case. So the suspense and action was better. Daniel added some mystery, and Hayden was definitely the most unique of all the girls. And this one was less predictable than the others. It wasn't completely unpredictable, but it was better anyway.
I liked it a little less because for some reason the writing felt off at times. I'm not really sure why. It could have just been my mindset at the time, but it was a little distracting.
And while I liked the addition of the harvester and other supernatural elements, it felt a little forced too. Like the author felt the story was in need of a bit more depth. I think that was accomplished, but a little too late in the series to feel authentic.
It could be argued that the main characters in the first three were pretty self involved, and since Kayla wasn't even aware that shifters existed until about the last quarter of the book, there's no reason for those remarkable elements to come up. But I feel like there should have been a mention in Lindsey's or Brittany's story. At least of the possibility that there was more to it than just the shifters being different.
Overall, I liked the series better than I thought I would. I still don't care for the constant shifting (haha) of main characters with each book, and I'd like to continue with their individual stories - particularly since I feel like Hayden and Daniel were left wide open for a sequel - but I understand why the author chose to do it this way.

The fourth novel in the Dark Guardian series. Hayden can feel the emotions of other Shifters. This has made life so uncomfortable for her that she runs away. When Daniel is sent to bring her home as the moon of her first shift draws near, she wonders if the handsome Shifter is more than he seems. Why can't she read his feelings? Why has no one else seen him shift? Can he protect her from the harvester who is killing her kind? If you liked the first three books, you'll love this one as well. Hawthorne does a good job of writing a series of books that don't have a continuous story line, which keeps them from getting old quickly.
