Honestly, I couldn't believe a word of this.
It's so over complicated. A north Koran agent wants to reunify the peninsula, so first, he has to get rid of American military force. Fine, that makes sense. So why then did he need to engage in a plot to unleash bio-terrorism on the USA? It was so unnecessary, a supervillain as intelligent as the novel's villain, with dirt on high standing party members of Korean Politicians, should be able to do that without creating a worldwide epidemic.

From start to finish, nothing made sense. For instance, Dirk Pitt Junior flies his helicopter to close to a ship and the crew opens fire on him... why? It made no sense, he didn't see anything? They just open fire for no reason, then after he survives, the North Korean spy orders him killed... again, why? He knew nothing. Then a car chase between a 50-year old cheevie and a modern rent-a-car. Yhea right.

The writing was interesting, the plot well pacced. An enjoyable story if you don't think about it, but for me. The story reads like something i might have written when i was 12.

Alas though, for me the biggist load of rubbish was the Cameo half-way through, i mean come on Cussler, show some class.

I’m not exactly sure why, but this was my favorite Dirk Pitt novel, probably because the main character was actually his son, Dirk Jr. Dirk isn’t as cocky as his father and just seemed to get on my nerves less. Plus this was the most recent of Cussler’s books that I have read, and actually took place in the year 2007, which made it easier to relate to, since it isn’t 30 years old. The premise was that this evil Korean guy wanted to unite North and South Korea again (and implement his communist dictator ways) but he knew that the U.S. would never allow it, so decides to send a missile to Los Angeles that will unleash a hybrid smallpox virus that will infect and kill millions of people. The U.S. would be so devastated by the vast number of deaths that it wouldn’t concern itself with what is going on in Korea. The Cussler men figure this out and come close to being killed but eventually save the day and Dirk gets to go on a date with one of the women he saves. Well, some things never change. I give it a B-.

**Spoiler alert** An excellent adventure stemming from the twist at the end of Valhalla rising. The characterization of Pitt's child and their interactions with on another were incredible to read.

On Yunaska Island, in the middle of the Aleutian Islands of Alaska, is a Coast Guard weather station, manned this summer by two men and a husky. It's isolated - home base in Anchorage is over a thousand miles away, and the nearest village is 90 miles across open water. But it's paradise to some for a variety of reasons, including the ability to practise the science they're there for, and the benefits of the job such as copious time off after a shift on the island for more pleasurable past-times.

An odd sound pervades the air, thought at first to be an approaching thunderstorm - but when he hears a cry out outside, one of the scientists goes out to find the husky seriously ill. Then suddenly both men are having their own problems breathing and staying upright.

A nearby CDC team are also having similar problems as the wave of death reaches them...

The NUMA vessel Deep Endeavour is also in the area, with the young Dirk Pitt aboard, and the adventure starts as they try to work out what on earth killed two mena and almost killed three others, and stop it from happening again. The only clue is an unmarked fishing vessel seen leaving the area.

Ignore the fact that this is the 18th book in the Numa Files series - it doesn't matter, it stands up fine on its own as a rollicking great read. I have yet to dislike a book written by Clive Cussler!

This is a typical Clive Cussler novel, it's an action adventure and thriller all rolled into one. It's the sort of book you would expect from Clive Cussler. North Koreans trying to take over South Korea while blaming Japan by attacking America with World War 2 biological weapons.

I enjoyed this novel.

Except for one thing. There are two characters in this book with the same name Dirk Pitt, senior and junior. This book is part of the Dirk Pitt series but this book focuses on junior more than senior and I think it's time to more the character to a new series.
