You can tell why this is the book to read in SF. A founder who is able to become a computer.
Multiple POVs, jumping back and forth in time can be difficult but managed well.
Shifting technological advancement from interstellar to prehistoric is engaging and provides dramatic tension, similar to A Fire Upon the Deep.

This was another book (audio in my case and I absolutely loved the narrator) that I fell in love with. I chipped off one star for the slightly cliff-hanger-y ending. I mean I know there are bunches of other books but it just sort of stopped so now I'm going to have to read the next volume. Thanks a lot, Bob!

This book made me rethink my stance on not really liking the idea of moving people to a digital media. It was fun and full of references to pop culture, but there was also a really serious story in there. Some people might not really enjoy this, I'm thinking because being referential is not always looked on kindly, but for me the references were realistic. By realistic I mean that I know that multiple versions of me would both be annoying, and find themselves hilarious. I'm not guaranteeing that I would pass the sensory deprivation, I'm just saying that an electronic version of me that can reproduce would probably react to itself in a similar way. I had some good talks with my husband over the serious issues presented in the book, and I am looking forward to reading the next one in the series. I already have it on my tablet, isn't that nice?
I love scifi books that are heavy on the science. Every Bob had a unique personality and I could connect with. It did feel a little fan servicey with all the nerd pop culture references but I did enjoy the humor. I'm excited to see what's in store for the rest of the series

Fun for someone looking for a really nerdy read that feels like dungeon crawler Carl meet children of time. I felt like it was a bit excessive about nerd fan service so I feel a bit lukewarm to it overall.
