A riviting tale of how abuse begets abuse, and how trauma and violance is passed from genearaton to generation.

And I know we're not suppose to say this book is romantic... but it's pretty fucking romantic in places. A dark and distructive romanc to be sure, but romance all the same.

This is my favourite classic by far. It might have something to do with how I could relate to Catherine as I read the story. Emily Brontë is a far better author than her sister.

None of the characters are likeable and I couldn't get into the story. It is beautifully written technically but the plot isn't for me.

Well, while the writing is at times beautiful, I disliked almost every character in this book. While I can enjoy a book with characters I don't like, that was not the case here. I managed to finish this book by sheer determination and willpower. And whatever people tell you about Heathcliff and Catherine, this is not a romance. The two characters are absolutely self-centered, petty, and judgemental and they mistake selfish desire for love. I could go on and on, but I am ready to move on and leave these characters to their poor decisions and grim fates.
