3.5 ⭐️ - easy, fun read. Lots of action, but not too gory. Fast paced and fun to learn more about different characters! Looking forward to the next book.

”i may not have been born in the sea, but i was born to rule it. i am the daughter of the siren queen.”

this was so good! excluding the romance, i loved every element of this book way more than the first one!! i will read and watch any media that has to do with pirates and enjoy it almost one hundred percent of the time.

the plot was interesting and fast-paced, which kept me hooked the entire time i was reading. one of the twists that happened in the middle of the book was super unexpected!

alosa kalligan is a brilliant main character. she’s strong, confident, and extremely loyal to her crew. she always has their best interests at heart. i really enjoyed every aspect of her character and i would love to read more books following her adventures!

my favorite part of this duology though was the relationship between alosa’s crew. they cared so much about each other and would have sacrificed themselves to protect the rest of the crew. the banter between everyone was just so heartwarming and entertaining!! i loved enwen, roslyn, kearan, and sorinda so much.

the romance. the only part of this book i really hated. every five seconds alosa and riden were fighting. they lacked every aspect a good relationship needs and honestly, imo they didn’t have that much chemistry. they were just driving me crazy; i was literally rolling my eyes every time they tried talking to each other. where was the communication, honesty, vulnerability, and sensitivity??? no where.

despite my dislike of the romance, i really, really enjoyed this book!! i definitely think this is a series worth reading, especially if you adore pirates. <3

”i love being a pirate, and there’s nothing i want to be more.”

I enjoyed the conclusion of our journey with Alosa and Riden.
While I enjoyed the first book more, I was still very entertained and I loved every word in this book. Everything was tied up and presented with a pretty bow on top.
More past was revealed with our characters, we met Alosa's crew (who I loved), and we loved and we lost.
Alosa's father was the worst but I was so happy to meet her mother who was lovely. And some justices were dished out in full, thank you. I'm just very pleased and glad I picked these books up. They were so entertaining and I am forever hooked on pirates now thanks to it.
I had so much fun reading this duo and I loved our quirky characters. I hope to see what else Tricia writes in the future.
