Heartbreaking, deeply impactful, a book that will stay will you long after the last page.
Wow, I did not like this book.
The writing is poor and unengaging. Sometimes long, long descriptions of nature yet at the same time the only descriptions of the characters we get (even characters that are so hot women faint at the very sight of them) is things like they’re wearing a hat, sunglasses, leather bands around their wrists (yuk) and occasionally a description of hair colour.
All characters are really flat, on the border of being complete stereotypes. It’s very hard to feel anything for any of the characters.
The plot and narrative is poorly constructed and predictable. Also I do not buy the motives of any of the characters, why they act in a certain way - and hey I gladly buy into a world of magic, talking animals and other weird shit but I genuinely don’t believe in this story at all.
The framing with the flowers that begin each chapter was kind of cute at first but they had very little connection to the story overall, and did not really contribute. I also found the “language of flowers” lame.
