I liked, but didn’t love, this book. It’s a cute story, but was not as heartfelt as I was expecting / hoping. You have to be able to accept that this book takes place in a universe where rules of the real world do not apply, and the entire premise of the book sort of hinges on nonsense. That being said, it’s a fast fun read, a good beach book.
A wonderful story about friendships, and fathers & daughters, and the many different versions of ourselves just waiting to be tapped.
I had a hard time getting into this one…it was slow and confusing at times. I enjoyed the heartfelt ending but the rest of it lacked a certain something.
This was good, not great, but good. It was a cute story and it had sad parts and silly parts but was a bit boring overall. It kept my attention and was easy to read but I felt it needed a bigger wow moment. But a quick fun little book I guess.
I adore time travel — my biggest guilty pleasure. Half-way through, this was a four-star read. It fizzled to three, but it still was fun and well-written. A highlight: the description of V&T Pizza, a place with 5-star pizza in Morningside Heights.
I absolutely adore this book!! One of my top reads of 2024!
A father-daughter love story that uses time travel to make some really profound points about life and love and the choices we make for the people we care about. Alice’s relationship with her father felt so genuine and special.
I really enjoyed the first part of this book
(before the time travel)
but then I could not understand how the whole rest of the book was about the fact
the main character's life would be so different if she could just go back in time and sleep with the hot rich guy... UGGGHHHH!

I had really high hopes for the plot but felt like the author spent more time drawing out details that had no real significance and then crammed all of the plot that I was actually looking for into the last 50 pages. Spent a lot of time on the main character wondering what she was doing and being confused but not that much time having meaningful interactions with her dad which felt like that was supposed to be the point?
That being said I liked the ending. Maybe this book was just more existential than I’m capable of comprehending.

Really liked this book! Definitely engaging.
And – oh – Peter Straub’s daughter!!
We had a fun conversation tonight about the book. We liked the flow and definitely felt “hooked.” I’m listening through a lot of things right now, and this one definitely made me find things to “do” while I was listening. The premise held and it never felt cheesy (and it certainly could have).
Might not be the BEST BEST book – but super solid, so check it out.
