Sweet & surprisingly not tiresome for a time travel book. About Time meets The Midnight Library.
this book was really hard to get into, but once I got into it it was sooooo good, the ending was so sweet. Actually really enjoyed this book and glad I stuck it out

Alice has arrived at her 40th birthday feeling as though life has just happened to her. She's been floating on the breeze, not really making decisions and now she wonders if she missed out. Her father, with whom she is very close to, is on his death bed. She gets drunk, ends up passing out in a tool shed by her fathers house, and wakes up in her teenaged bedroom on her 16th birthday.
This isn't a scientific time travel book, it's actually more character driven which is somewhat unique in the sci-fi genre. Alice tries to see if she can change her future, prevent her dad from falling ill, make better choices, or any choices for that matter, that give her the life she dreamed of.
I liked it, mostly. I could relate to Alice, we're the same age so the 90s references hit home, being an only child, the growing up in NYC and all of the things she mentions down to the radio stations (I grew up right outside NYC).
But....some things didn't line up or make sense, little details that started to pile up that had be going, hmmmmmm. Not that time travel makes sense to a science noob like me, but it was more plot holes than anything. Details that I think the author forgot she mentioned and then changes later on. I'm all for some ambiguity in a novel, but that's not what this was. I loved Alice's love for her father, but I wanted more.
