These are fun reads with some really cool art.

I quite enjoyed this arc, it seemed like a change of focus for Vader which I appreciated. I liked the focus on the 'day to day' business of the Empire - bringing 'uncooperative' planets into line, in this case a huge ironworks who were less than encouraging in their support of the Empire. Vader gets all '5 year plan' evil in this one with his demands to 'increase production'. There are parallels with puppet regimes the world over with Vader installing his own ruler.

I quite like Vader's 'evil' droids -they provide some light relief. The art is fantastic as always.

This volume was just okay for me. It was entertaining, but not super memorable.

Whatever shortcomings this volume has in terms of storyline, it made it up as always in its characters. Gillen continues to have a great grasp and understanding of what makes Darth Vader tick and that's so exciting to read on the page. Apart from maybe Star Wars: Rebels, this was one of the few instances where when I saw Vader I thought, yes, this is Anakin Skywalker. Most of the time I have this divide when it comes to seeing Vader and Anakin as the same person, but not in this one!

I continue to love the relationship between Vader and Aphra, and I continue to love the nuances between them! Vader might say he does not care about her, but then there are these little hints in the dialogues and the art that just brings me back to Anakin and Ahsoka. And yes, as always, the art is spectacular!

As with previous volumes, it was great to see the destructive capabilities of Darth Vader, and it's just so great to get a glimpse of his thoughts leading up to Episodes V and VI.

Vader has to go pacify a world of greedy ore barons while Dr Cylo's remaining creations are along for the ride, hoping to take another shot at the Sith Lord.

Vader as well as the shitty aristocrats are always at 11; Beetee and Triple Zero's bloodlust makes for hilarious gags; and the pacing is, as ever, break-neck.

I'm sorry this only has one volume left to go, especially considering the main series has made its little dip into embarrassing "we never kill ever" wankery in Rebel Jail.
