This book was weird. It felt like a romantic fanfic at times, a well-written comedy others (the first crow scene still makes me laugh). The protagonist's personality is all over the place. Still, the combination of all the weirdness kept me interested until the last page.
Originally I did not think that I was going to find this book as interesting as it turned out to be, but it ended up being a book that I could not put down. Now I find I'm itching to read the next book in the series, but alas! I have to wait until the local book store gets it in for me!

No Veronica speedwell. I struggled with this one. Kind of into. Kind of bored out of my mind. Enjoyed Brisbane but didn’t really see anything special about the title character. Might pick up the next since it’s free on audible escape and I love this authors Veronica Speedwell series. Hoping maybe this first one just didn’t quite get its sea legs yet.

I've heard good things about this series for a while now. I've checked it out from library at least 2 or three times but I never seemed to have time for it. It sucked me in by the first page and it had me dying to read the sequel. Fans of romance, moody historical fiction, or mysteries should all give this book a try. And if you're like me and a fan of all three it's quite a find.
The things that I could enjoy about this book, I enjoyed immensely. But there are also some very frustrating and at times problematic things going on in this text as well, so this one is hard to rate for me.
