Inspirational. Both the main character and his wife are pretty amazing people doing the brave and right thing in face of very challenging personal circumstances.

This is such a hard subject to cover and although Finkel chooses a very narrow perspective it's so reflective, at least for me, of what was happening all around me and in the country. People being completely lost to misinformation, conspiracy and false hope of a wannabe dictator Trump. How it challenged and still is challenging relationships with family and friends if not ending them. I lost a lot of people over the last 8 years. This book could definitely trigger many and for a large swath the minute it disparages Trump they will probably throw it out. Even tho they are the ones that need to read this content the most

"An American Dreamer" by David Finkel is a heart-breaking read. This is not a lengthy screed against the scourge that is T*ump but an honest look at a man, deeply committed to his country, who is realizing painfully the dream that is America can never be fulfilled. Without mockery, Finkel lays bare what drives people to believe the lies the T*ump spouts. It makes for heart-breaking but necessary reading. Thank you to #netgalley and #randomhouse for the opportunity to preview this book.
