One of my favorite authors. Only because it was his book would I read about a disease outbreak during a disease outbreak.
The book was really wonderful

That was a quick ride through a terrible rabies outbreak. Tremblay has a way of writing quick but powerful novels, this is my second one by him, and it won't be my last. The action and tension were high throughout this entire book until the final chapter, and unlike his other book "The Cabin At The End Of The World", there was a solid ending in this one. I feel horrible for Romola having to battle with herself over her friendship with Natalie and her duty as a doctor. I really enjoy books that have that outbreak or pandemic trope and this one did not disappoint.

Honestly. This is a good four, maybe four point five, but I've rounded it up. Why? As I was reading it there were a few moments that I thought might ruffle some feathers. And scrolling through the low scoring reviews I can see this was the case.

Cracking book, sped along at a lovely pace, reading it during 2020 was very timely. Also liked how it was a form of rabies. Nice and simple and not needing more explanation ( as someone who grew up in the UK, where rabies isn't a thing, I always had a bit of a fear of it)

An eerily relevant zombie horror novel. A virus is running rampant through the US, and the government is doing way too little, way too late to contain it. And our main characters are running out of time to receive treatment after being infected. The novel is a series of calamities, all of which culminate in disaster and disappointment. It moves quickly, and has just enough creep factor without being exceptionally gory. A great read if you want to imagine how the COVID-19 pandemic could have been much worse.
