Finally downloaded this on my ereader. I missed these two so much. Totally recommended for anyone who needs a tiny dose of Shahrzad and Khalid in their life after the end of The Rose & the Dagger.

I've been anticipating this release. I'm so glad to have read it but wish it was longer. I can't get enough of Khalid.

As you may know I don't read a lot of prequels and novellas. A lot of times I don't care for them so I steer clear of them for the most part. The Crown and the Arrow is free on Amazon right now so I figured what the heck I will give it a shot.
This novella is only 9 pages long and it's a snippet from Khalid's POV. I thought it was okay. It was intriguing to see from Khalid's POV and lord knows I'm glad it was not a full book from his POV. I do NOT want that at all, but this being a quick read was fine. However, I found it unnecessary. Which is why I didn't rate it higher. I just wanted something in there that made me say oh hey I'm so glad I read that. Which was not the case for me.
Overall The Crown and the Arrow is not a necessary read, but it wasn't a bad read either. It's super short and free on Amazon right now so if you are a fan of The Wrath and the Dawn I would say go ahead and give this a go if you want. I don't think you are missing anything if you decide not to read it though.
*Note* I'm not sure if this is still free on Amazon or not.

Khalid
So a look into the caliph's thoughts. It's interesting to know what Khalid was thinking when he discovered that Shazi basically volunteered to be slaughtered. I mean . . . Now we know why he actually visited her.

Doesn't add too much to the story, but really just an insight to the events just before The Wrath & the Dawn with Khalid's thoughts upon meeting Shahrzad

I loved the first in the series but I feel like this wasn't really necessary. We already knew how he felt about the killings in the first novel but it was still beautifully written. Can't wait for the next novel!
