Once upon a time Ava made the mistake of falling for the emotionless older bad boy, Eli King. Her sweet naive heart thought she could win him over with her love but he shuts her down and crushes her hurt in one go. She vows never to let her heart be foolish with love again and makes it her personal mission to sabotage any time Eli tries to get with another girl in Uni and he does the same to her.

But Ava isn’t like other girls. She suffers from serious mental illness and her brain often plays tricks on her. But never has it betrayed her like it does when she forgets two years of her life and wakes up married to her enemy, the man she swore to never have her heart. Now she must try to piece together the last two years, the true nature of her relationship with Eli all while trying not to let herself fall for him again. But her brain is like a ticking bomb and it won’t be long before it detonates again leaving more calamity in its wake.

I’ve been most anticipating this book since starting this series. Ava’s been such a likeable side character and I was so curious to get into her head and see why she is the way she is. She is such a strong character for all she has been through and continues to go through. Her relationship with Eli is equal parts antagonist and sexual tension. The steamy scenes are incredibly hot and give you all that love/hate back and forth we’ve come to expect from these two.

This book was surprisingly emotional and I was sweating trying to figure out how she was going to get us an HEA. I had to get reassurance from friends that everything was going to be okay because it was a journey to get there.

Finally seeing Eli come to terms with his obsession and love for his wife was a beautiful thing to behold and watching him grow and change because of it melted my cold dead heart. I’m so sad to say goodbye to these characters and the rinaverse but I’m excited for what’s next.

DID NOT FINISH: 15%

The plot made no sense to me. And I'm sure it would have eventually figured itself out but I didn't want to spend most of the book questioning what was real and constantly wondering what happened to lead to the things it lead to at the beginning of this book. I also couldn't stand how Eli treated Ava. It was cruel and mean for seemingly no reason. I even skipped ahead to a chapter in his pov to see if things got better, being in his head, but alas it did not. It was in fact worse.

3.5 ⭐️
Although I liked this book, I wouldn't have known it was part of the Legacy Of Gods series if the whole cast of the series hadn't made an appearance.
I was expecting Eli to be completely unhinged like Killian, Landon, or even Creigh. Sadly, he wasn't.
I'm giving ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 because it was a good book, just not what I was expecting or hoping for.
Maybe a re-read will change my mind.
