Plotwise this book was amazing but my only issue was with Eli. He was way too toxic and controlling in comparison with the rest of the love interest in this series. I just wish it had more cute moments between them.

dnf at 65% in november, came back and finished it in feb. 2025.

november review: i fucking hate eli. his possessiveness and his fucking asshole manipulation and lies are his only personality traits, and they do not make him charming. ava should've had some more goddamn backbone and actually told him to quit being a bitch. she deserved a LOT better than this fucking moron idiot. now i'll admit, the amnesia plot was not something i thought rina kent would do, much less have there be mystery that i WANTED to find the answers to, but it didn't help anything, just made me hate eli more. i do not understand why he likes her considering he's a relentless dickbag the whole time. also i am goddamn tired of these rk heroes who are virgins but also somehow sex gods??? like there ain't no fucking way at all. contemplated dnf'ing MULTIPLE times which i rarely do. this book pissed me the fuck off

february: this whole book is one big show don't tell violation, and it feels lazy as sin. the plot was convoluted and executed poorly, and i stand by all the character notes i had the first time around. did not feel catharsis at the end, i don't know why eli eventually came to stop treating ava horribly, and i still think there should've been more emphasis on ava wanting children but being afraid of being a bad parent because of her mental health issues. this is a very real fear for many people and i think it should've been talked about more. this was a shitass ending to the series
