It was good but it was hard for me to read right after God Of fury.

All of the legacy of gods books are very copy and paste with new characters so it’s nice to see one deviate from that consistency. It’ still lacked for me. The love story wasn’t as swoon worthy as I would have liked and it was a bit confusing to understand how it all tied together.
Just not as into these characters as the others.
2.5 okay so um
1. i still dislike ava. her character was immature and kind of annoying although i did sympathise with her, and of course i feel bad for her. i understand her a lot more now, and the hate has gone down to dislike!
2. i really liked eli, he’s probably by second fav log man after jeremy although the way that he treated ava in the beginning was questionable. especially since we’ve been told that he is “obsessed” with her, yet he only notices her in university AND he fucks other girls and plays around with her feelings.
the plot was amazing, i loved how well thought of it was but it was poorly written. i remember when i read god of pain i was so excited for this book, i literally had a countdown for it and it did not exceed the expectations whatsoever. jeremycecily crumbs were probably the best thing though, like jeremy buying my girl an entire island AND marrying her?? hell yeah!!!
ok bye
edit: cole’s irrational hatred for eli pissed me off this is not the same cole i know what the hell

This one wasn't my favorite in the series, but I loved how Ava's mental illness was portrayed and the lengths Eli went to protect her.

🖤 Intense & Emotional
Eli, the cold and calculating eldest Constantine, has one rule: never get attached.
Ava, the soft-hearted yet resilient youngest Morelli, is supposed to be the enemy.
But when a fake engagement turns into real feelings, their dangerous game blurs the lines between hate, desire, and something terrifyingly close to love.
This is a slow burn laced with family secrets, legacy power plays, and a war between two dynasties that’s anything but clean.
⚖️ What I liked:
✔️ Ava’s growth — she’s sweet but learns to fight
✔️ Rina’s signature tension and rich family drama
✔️ Eli’s unraveling — cold exterior, wounded core
👎 Why it’s 3 stars for me:
✖️ Eli was too emotionally locked off for too long
✖️ Some scenes dragged — the fake engagement setup didn’t build as much heat as I expected
Still, it’s a solid read for Kent fans who love slow-burn enemies to lovers, mafia family drama, and characters who carry generational trauma like armor.
