piper: sorry daddy i've been naughty
tyler: for the last time, it's "forgive me father for i have sinned"

Goddd (literally) this was so messy šŸ˜ but I still loved it! I went into this thinking I'd need to go to confession immediately afterwards but it actually included so many fascinating and important questions and conflicts that plague the modern Catholic church. Why *do* we still uphold celibacy? What even is sin? Can consensual love be a sin when Jesus taught us to, above all, love eachother?

You can clearly tell that Sierra grew up Catholic and what I especially appreciated was that while this was erotica, it wasn't erotica at its core. While some of the plot points went a bit too far for my tastes (like using annoited oil as lube...), most topics were still handle with care and respect even if the author was no longer a practising Catholic. She also included scenes where characters obviously feel God or His presence and I loved those.

Especially towards the end, the relationship did get so messy and there was so much miscommunication but I loved Poppy and Tyler enough to see beyond that even though I was really annoyed with them at points (looking at you, Tyler). I think a few sex scenes could've been cut so the ending wasn't as rushed but I still had such a great time with this book and hey, it actually inspired me to get my rosary out again ā€“ amazing what smut can do, huh?

TLDR; I actually think there's nothing more attractive than a man willing to devote his entire life to God so I was helpless from the start

Decent. Lots of religious references which is what I was hoping for. Might be a little too much for non-religious/those with little knowledge of the Catholic faith

I now have a love hate relationship with this book. It was amazingā€¦.until the last chapter. Iā€™m still mad at Poppy for that ending. Epilogue was good though. But that last chapter had me wanting to throw the book across the room.

I picked this up after hearing so much about it on TikTok.
ā€œPriestā€ the smutty romance story about a priest, and one of parishioners. Tyler may be young, and very good looking, but he has decided to devote his life to God. Everything seems to be going fine for him, until a new parishioner, Poppy, temps Tyler in every way. Now he has to choose between the life he has built, serving God, or a life with Poppy.
Tyler Bell sounds like such an amazing priest, not because he is sexy or young, but he has such a beautiful way of looking at religion. He truly wants to change peopleā€™s perspectives about the Catholic Church, and he wants people to experience the beauty and love that God can offer them. I know that is not the main point of the story but I really appreciated this.
I really did not like Poppy as a character. She had a lot of flaws, and I think she epitomizes the concept of a toxic woman. She seduced Tyler and made him question his entire life. She knew how much he was falling for her, and she felt the same way, but then, when he was ready to give up everything for her, she threw it all away. She left him without so much as a word, and the lack of explanation is just unforgivable in my opinion. Tyler was such a good guy, and in spite of how Poppy treated him, he found his way, and he continued to work to find his lifeā€˜s purpose. I feel like he could do so much better than Poppy.
Overall, I think this book is very well written, but it does flirt with being a little much. I do think the author handled the content matter with grace, and I do not think that any religious aspects were brought up in a manner that were outright offensive. With that said, the nature of this book may offend some people. I do think the author is incredibly talented, and I do intend to read more from her in the future.
I do recommend this book if you are I interested in a super sexy book about a priest.

This is the absolute worst book I have ever read. The smut is fine but the actual plot of the book is horrible and the main characters are the most insufferable people I have ever read about. Tyler is a misogynist who keeps calling himself ā€œa feminist allyā€ and then thinks things like ā€œSean yelped like a girlā€. Poppy thinks about no one but herself, I mean who shows up at someone elseā€™s door at 3am because they canā€™t sleep? It was insufferable to read and I canā€™t understand why people like this book outside of the mediocre smut.
