Outside of fanfiction, this is one of the filthiest things I’ve ever read. The things they do in this book
ON THE ALTAR?????
are deranged and I loved it. However, I felt like there were some missed opportunities for plot. We don’t really get to delve into their characters outside of the smut, and I think it could given us more of a reason to like them as individuals. It definitely would gave made the sex hotter if we’d seen some growth happening too. Perhaps this is a lot to  ask for a filthy, taboo romance, but if you’re interested in some taboo Shenanigans, you’ve come to the right place

“if i’d never met you, i would never have really lived”

i cant lie, i didn’t have high expectations going into this book. i thought it was going to just be a smutty read that was gonna be hot hot hot, and while it was that, it was also more. it was inspiring and reflective and emotional. see, i’m a religious person (i’m not a catholic but still) and so i think that’s one of the main reasons i was able to look past the smut and connect with this book on a deep level. that sounds almost pretentious lol. it’s true though, i absolutely devoured this book,, like it’s almost 2am right now and i stayed up reading cuz i really like this book and just had to finish. this book helped me confront a lot of questions i didn’t really want to face concerning religion and sexuality and how it played a role in my life. and honestly i’m grateful. in some weird fascinating way, i feel like this erotica has helped me in my standing with Christ. wow that is a sentence i never thought i’d ever say pls 💀. i’m not usually this open about my religion online so this is weird and i’m gonna shut up now.

if religion isn’t your thing or you’re just looking for a smut rec, i’d still recommend this book. the 🌶 scenes, especially in the first half of the book, had me gasping for air. i was looking like this 😧 almost every smut scene plsss

I absolutely loved how hot and sexy this book is, and all the taboo elements throughout. I also love how despite how taboo it is, there's some really sweet and tender moments as well. I loved reading about Tyler's struggle between his faith and his feelings for Poppy and seeing him unable to stop himself from falling for her.

And I love how Tyler always gets Poppy's explicit consent before he does anything with her and that he asks several times during whatever they're doing how she's feeling and if she wants to continue, even after the initial consent is given. I love when a book includes consent being given.

I can't recommend this book enough.

Before we get into this review I do want to say that this book does deal with a very triggering topic so please do your research before reading this book and decide if it's good for mental health. As with all my reviews the trigger warnings for the books are at the bottom of my review.
I had been warned that this book was DIRTY and I have read a lot of very smutty books so I wasn't really phased but holy cow!!! I was not expecting that! Sierra Simone didn't slowly dipped her feet into the water of the smutty pool instead she threw you head first into the deep end and hoped we could swim. This book went from 0 to 100 so quickly and I was NOT ready. I felt so dirty while reading this book and I'm honestly so glad I'm not christian  or even religious because I can't even think about how I would feel while reading this book if that was the case.
I do have a few minor things that I didn't love about this book. One of the biggest one being I felt like the smut came on way too fast and we never got to see them grow and their feelings grow for each other. It was like oh the meet each other and now they are having sex. It was too hot and heavy way too soon without much romance development. Going alone with that another issue I had was I felt a lack of connection to the characters and their romance. I don't feel like we truly knew the characters, I liked them enough to keep reading and be interested in the book but I also never felt truly connected to them and actually knew much about them.
I also felt as if their relationship was lacking and wasn't very well developed. This book definitely felt like it focused more on Tyler's issues with the church and his desires then the actual romance. It also didn't feel like Poppy was as into the relationship as Tyler was. Tyler seemed to care about her so much and I just felt like she didn't really care that much about him. I think if we had gotten her point of view way more often than we did, that wouldn't have been such a problem and I would have connected with her more.
Overall, It was beautifully written with a lot of very quotable moments. The smutty scenes were really well done and oh so very dirty. It was enjoyable and I plan on picking up the priest series and some other works from Sierra Simone.

BLASPHEMIES ALL OVER! I laughed so hard, it was just too much blasphemies, but somehow it was still very religious. It would have been a 3 star review but the miscommunication trope is always a big no for me. And definitely I will not read the other books in the series.

Also, please check the trigger warnings. Mostly if you were surrounded somehow by religion.

uhm honestly, the leaving part was unnecessary because why leave when she knew he's still there for her? he literally went to her house with a flowers and she just decided to leave him the moment she saw him outside her window. like the pictures wasn't even spread to public yet? her ex just published it when she rejected him after she kissed him. you know what's surprising? the fact that she really love him lmao i wouldn't be surprised if she really deceived him after that stunt.
