Similar positives and negatives to the first book, but without the great story that the first book had. I still couldn’t put the book down, and I liked getting to know another kingdom. But not a lot actually happened in this book. I don’t love flashbacks, so the grandmother chapters weren’t my favorite, but fortunately there weren’t that many of them.

An example of romantasy that would've been better off of it didn't try so hard on the romance and just focused on the fantasy. The romance elements just felt so forced and random and unnecessary given everything else that was going on.
