We owned this bound in a single volume with The Cuckoo Clock, by the same author, when I was a child, but while I clearly remember having been read the latter, I don't remember this one at all. Whether we never got to it or I just don't remember it, I will never know. Anyway, it's charming in a very "Victorian-children's-fantasy" way, and if you like that sort of thing (I do), you will probably like this.
