An evil monster named Halloween comes out at sundown and plagues the small town of Strang. Halloween goes from house to house, collecting offerings from the townspeople. When he happens upon Barry's home, he finds his favorite new target to torment and torture.

I was excited for this book but it didn't live up to my expectations/reviews I've seen. The audiobook narrator didn't help, as I found him slow, sluggish, and almost draining. The story was average I guess.

I've had this novella on my Halloween TBR for a few years in a row now and I'm really happy that I finally picked it up! It was a lot of fun and super unique. I don't believe I've ever read a story quite like this where Halloween is an entity to despise and fear instead of a fun holiday. I do wish we had gotten more of an understanding as to where this entity came from and what the details of its "deal" with the town were, but as it is, I thought this was a fun, tense little read and I liked it. 3.5 stars!

This was a fun novella for spooky month. It was definitely a quick read, not super spooky but a decent amount of halloween vibes. My only complaint is there was more to the ending. I expected a little more with how much the book built up to the end. But overall definitely a must read.
