The kind of language the book is written in feels like it's trying too hard to be elegant and lyrical. Descriptions of gore and body horror were very visceral.

Beautifully written and thought-provoking. It didn't much matter how confused I was even half-way through this work of literary horror. I will definitely revisit this again one day, and will definitely check out more Khaw.

I have no idea what I just read. I also realize my vocabulary is extremely limited...

The Little Mermaid mixed up with Frankenstein-esque experiments, and the result is violent and wonderful, and filled with body horror (although if you think about it, even The Little Mermaid is pretty horrific when there are no singing Disney fish).

I loved the audiobook version. Wonderful job reading this tale of horror and love by the narrator.
