Sends too many weak and mixed messages, among them to follow your dreams, but that every woman wants to be a mother. The message I liked best was about adoption being ok- sorely needed in a culture obsessed with wanting to know blood lines and family history.

What a page turner that got me rooting for a chicken who is also mother to a mallard duckling, and for her to somehow get rid of the weasel she made an enemy of. What a beautiful short story of motherhood, adoption, freedom and ambition, societal acceptance, circle of life all in one.
emotional hopeful fast-paced

Cute little parable though some aspects might be lost on younger readers.

Very short and quite poinient. Verging on a fable. Kind of reminded me of Animal Farm - lots of metaphorical lessons to dig into about dreams, societies, discrimination, life purpose.... Or just a cute story about a hen and a duck

I LOVE THIS BOOK! If I could give more that five stars, I would.

It is such a beautiful fable, a light read enjoyable for everyone. It speaks of freedom, independence, acceptance, and understanding through the journey of a lovable hen-roine, Sprout!
