I’m always a fan of King’s depiction and development of characters. His weaving of the inner worlds of his characters is masterful. I believe this is why his work never translates well to the screen. What makes his work excellent and full of depth is the way he paints a character’s inner landscape.
This book was no exception. While it may not be as well compelling as some of his works, the story and the way he pulls the reader into his tale are as compelling as I have come to expect.
Definitely worth the read.

Another favourite from The King for me! I’ve had this book on my “to read” list for years and I’m glad I finally did.

I liked it but at the same time, something kept me from really enjoying it. The premise of the story was cool, an author who "created" an evil twin. I think there being a partial supernatural element to it was nice, but I almost wish it dived more into that. But the horror was definitely there

I've tired to read this so many times but this time finally stuck. I think the concept is super cool, and I loved the sparrows metaphor. I can't really get this book out of my head. New favorite King book.

At first thought, I’d say this book was good, but not great. The story felt unfinished and like all this long tense suspense led to an anticlimactic dud instead of the fireworks I’m used to with Stephen King.
On second thought, the open endedness started to mean more to me. It felt like a commentary on the way that killing your “inner demon” doesn't fix the damage it does to your life. Things aren’t fixed just because the root problem is fixed. Theres so much more work that still has to be done. King wrote this book after getting sober and I think that impacted this book incredibly.
