The art was really nice, though I might be biased since I couldn't draw like that (or anywhere near that) for balls. Spider-man's quirky comments didn't fail to amuse me. One thing that really bugged me was Menace -- honestly, he came in for a couple of pages and just LEAVES adding nothing to the novel. Peter Parker's face changed CONSIDERABLY throughout -- he looked akin to a Hispanic lesbian at the beginning (I actually did a double-take upon realizing THAT was Peter) and then at the end, his facial features were far too small for his face, which looked really rather chubby. In fact, a friend looked over my shoulder as I was reading and explicitly commented on how unattractive he looked.

Oh, and the Mayan ritual thing was unsettling to me. Maybe it's just the fact that when Spider-man is suddenly mixed with "the astral plane" it just makes things really weird -- like when Ezekiel took him to Africa to hide from Shathra -- and takes everything out of the semi-realistic stories I sort of grew up with. Still, it was a good read, to me.

This was a very okay volume.

I laughed out loud several times and really enjoyed it while reading it, but overall there was particularly memorable about it.
