haha these epilogue names are dumb I say as a single tear rolls down my face

Loved the story, but it was slow and drawn out at times.

Espectacular. La película no le llega ni de lejos a la suela de los zapatos.

Buddy reread with Amrita Goswami!

I sped through these books. I can't really recommend doing that. I think the better way to approach this series is to read the first three, and spend ones childhood speculating wildly, then continue to do so while going over the rest of the material spaced out by release date.

I recognize that's an insane suggestion. There's no other justification for the 4 star rating though. I wasn't super fond of this when it came out either. Everything was too neat, the deaths felt calculated for shock value, the final explanation was ridiculous, characters did nothing to grow etc etc.

Rereading did not improve it. Parts of this are well written. By and large it was disappointing. So many interesting themes ignored. So many characters left out in the ridiculously tacky epilogue.

There's no way anyone will care about the rating though. If you've read even one of these books then you need to read this. Thankfully you can! Since the characters have no personality and learn nothing throughout the book.

Harry is still an entitled pain, who whines about how he, a high school dropout, was not told all the details of a much older and more educated headmaster. Ron is still a toxic twerp whose only justification is to force Hermione to cook. Hermione herself becomes some sort of supportive prop, with about as much personality as a toe rag.

Some of the best characters suffered character assassinations, while other simply dropped off like flies. The world is too small to accommodate the characters, who move in and out of whatever they please whenever they want to.

The epilogue was truly terrible. Almost as bad as inflicting the cursed child on us.

A poor end to a story with a good beginning. Still 4 stars though. Nostalgia.

This book wrecked me.

The attention to detail and how this book really wrapped up the whole series was really amazing. I cry watching the movies at particular scenes, but reading it in the book form brought different emotions that could only be done by reading these pages. I am so grateful I read this as an adult because I think I’m able to appreciate it 1000 times more than I would have when I was younger. Of course I wish there was more about what happened 19 years later, but it would be hard to top this book.
