“I thank you, deep power
that works me ever more lightly
in ways I can’t make out.
The day’s labor grows simple now,
like a holy face
held in my dark hands.”

mystical and visceral - full of the complexity and the unknown that is the human/divine experience. I wish I had found this sooner and I want to come back to this

4 stars because the writing and prose is beautifulllll.
I dont really care too much of the content and religious aspects of the poetry but the writing is just too good so its deserving.

Reading this as an ebook is not a great experience.

I do not connect with Rilke. Never have. Wanted to give him another try and the results are the same. I wish the copy I had would have been a bilingual edition. When I read translated poetry I find it helpful to see the original text, even if I can’t fully read it. Not sure that would have made a big difference here.
