Elatsoe starts off a little slow and I found the dialogue to be a bit stilted, but overall I enjoyed the story a lot. Darcy Little Badger weaves the threads of this mystery together for a satisfying reveal at the end, and the book is full of great characters and meaningful themes.

I loved this! Admittedly, the beginning was a bit slow and I did have to use an audiobook along with the physical book to push me around. But after reading for a bit, things picked up and I really appreciated Ellie's character. The ending was also fantastic!

August 2022 Anagram Reading Challenge
Prompt: Read a book that starts with the letter "E"

I really enjoyed this novel! I thought the lore was intriguing (despite there being a little too many different lores and legends sharing screentime), I really liked Ellie and Jay, and I loved how important stories were and how Little Badger incorporated them into her story.

If there was one flaw, it was definitely the mystery aspect. Its pretty hard to keep a reader engaged when we already know who the killer is, and while the lore surrounding the murder and murderer were interesting, the actually sleuthing certainly wasn't.

That being said, I did have fun with this novel and highly recommend it to others. A fun, mystical good time with endearing and likable characters.
