4.5⭐️ since the first book, I was just waiting to read Jensen’s story and this did not disappoint. Tuck was exactly what she needed and i can’t wait to continue the series.

I love a friends to lovers story and this one was so special! I loved Tuck and Jensens dynamic and how protective he was of her. I wasn’t expecting the twist that came at the end and was pretty worried for Tuck but they ended up with the HEA that they deserved! Another 5 star read from Catherine Cowles!

"That was the thing about my friendship with Tuck--we always accepted each other just as we were. No pretense or pressure. When we were together, we could just be." -Jensen
"The girl I'd known all her life had a wildness to her. An unnamable quality that couldn't be tamed. She'd lost that over the past year, that wildfire in her eyes, gone. And I'd do whatever I could to help her get it back." -Tuck
Okay, Catherine. Just tear my heart out and stomp on it why don't you?! But, actually, I'd allow it because it's worth it to read these amazing stories that I swear just get better and better by the book.
There's something about a man named Tuck that does bad things to me, okay?! This is the second time (this year...that I can remember) that a book with an MMC named Tuck has had me bawling. Catherine's books tend to make me emotional anyway, but dang if this one didn't just really make me cry.
Tuck has been Jensen's brother's best friend, and honestly, her best friend, since the day she was born. And that's all they ever were...but that didn't mean that Jensen didn't want more from Tuck. She just knew that with the life he's led (and the family he grew up with) her hopes of having Tuck as more than a friend weren't likely to get her anywhere. As for Tuck, he's always made himself see Jensen as a little sister...and it took a lot of effort on his part to only see her as "Little J" rather than the gorgeous and amazing woman she grew into. Okay, yeah, he still saw all those things but ignored them hard. Until one day they're stuck in a snowstorm with only one bed (*squeals*) and they have their "fuck it" moment and finally give in to all their feelings. They agree that they'll just be friends with benefits so that no one gets hurt, but soon they're feeling more for each other. That scares Tuck a lot because of how he grew up, and he tries to deny his feelings, but when Jensen's past starts to catch up with her, can Tuck just let Jensen go like he always planned, or will he fight for her like he knows she deserves?
I was excited to get Jensen's story since we met her in "Beautifully Broken Pieces" but I think she got her story at the exact right time. She needed some time to come to terms with a lot of the things that happened in the previous books that left her with a lot of trauma. I loved that she was so strong for her son all the time even when she just wanted to give up. She always made sure that Noah had what he needed to thrive and live his best life. But, I also loved that she always had Tuck to lean on when she needed it. I loved that Tuck was always there for Jensen even when it was hard for him because he was denying his feelings for her, so being her friend was difficult at times. They were such good friends for years that when they finally gave in to their feelings it was the most amazing thing! I also loved that Tuck was always there for Noah, too, even though he didn't have the best example of a father when he was growing up. He was still an amazing example to Noah and always considered him when he was thinking about being with Jensen.
I loved this story so much! I loved watching Tuck and Jensen finally give in to their feelings, but I also loved seeing them work through the hard times. They both had a difficult and traumatic past, but they did their best to work through them together. This might be my favorite of the series so far, but I'm excited to see what happens next in Sutter Lake!!

4 stars.
" I often forgot how well she fit into my life. Because she had always been there. For almost as long as I could remember, she’d always been a part of me "
I’m usually not a fan of "brother’s best friend” romances. Something has always irritated me.. from the "do not sniff near my sister, she’s off limits!" to sneaking around and doing the forbidden relationship. just not to upset Big Bro.
Haha ! Men..☕️
Jensen and Tuck basically grow up together and have been best friends most of their lives. I think this detail was decisive for me to actually like the romance. Because it was the fact the two of them meant actually something for each other aside for her being his best friend’s sister.
"Life is full of horrible things, Tuck. Are you going to protect me from all of them? Then I’ll barely be living. Newsflash, bucko, you have to experience the bad so you appreciate the good. I don’t want you to shield me. I want you to stand next to me."
*Throwing my feminism out the window*
I absolutely adore how Catherine Cowles main male characters are overly protective with their beloved. Jensen wasn’t reckless and seeing the circonstances of the events —ofc there was a lot of mystery and evil side characters— and her actually being a mom was the right way to paint her personnage, but it doesn’t stop Tuck to go all mama bear on her all the time!!
"Jensen had always seen more of me than anyone else. Knew the secrets I held deep inside. Every single thing I hid away from the view of the world. Every single thing…save one. And that was one secret she’d never know "
Tuck was convinced to not be feat for a monogamous lifestyle but yet was pretty in love with Jensen since childhood. (But it didn’t stop him from messing around with a lot of women. Huh.)
