excellent and gripping. so demented it gave me chills. my mind was spinning after i finished this—there are so many separate threads of thought that it's hard to describe how i feel about this web of a masterpiece that Butler has spun up.  i should have read this way sooner, to the point where i actually wish it was required reading...prose was a bit simple for me but obviously quality != complexity.  the reader's guide by Robert Crossley, which was included with my edition of the book, was a must!
