Have just finished reread this and I have to say, Cole and Silver is one of the best couples of Rina and hands down, without a single doubt, the best couple in Royal Elite series.

The tensions?? Top notch!
Also this book has the most interesting and unpredictable plot twist coz the first time I read it, my jaw dropped to the floor!

*rereading this bcs I cannot wait for Eli and Ava book which will be released in mid 2024!

not even gonna bother rating ts

Very riveting! Great plot with a fantastic plot twist at the end that left me reeling. I was dying to read Cole’s story since he was a brooding presence in the other books, always reading a book, but knowing everything that was going on around.

Silver is a victim of her parent’s divorce. Torn between loyalty to her father and mother, she’s the perfectly proper lady to please her mother, and a doting daughter who takes care of her father. Her mother is a self-centered, manipulating selfish person who wanted to raise her daughter to be her own image, and relies on Silver a lot. I felt for this poor rich girl because her parents’ divorce ripped her life apart, then she had to grow a barrier around her for protection so her friends wouldn’t see how she felt inside. She couldn’t let them see her cry and hurting. So, she decided to change into an ice queen, very bitchy and off-putting, surrounded by two ditzy friends with no substance. From afar, she watched the friends she used to love, protected them even if she shunned them in public.

Cole had an abusive childhood, product of a father who beat him and his mother. He was kidnapped as a child and it marked him; from this moment is when he started to appreciate living and controlling chaos. He incited chaos and observed from outside.

“Chaos is the only thing that makes me stop and stare. It’s a pause button to my brain.”

They have a love/hate relation that started when they were six years old and continues to present day. For Cole, Silver was his favorite chaos, but instead of being devoted, he was her bully, possessive and passionate, kinky as heck. Silver lives a fake life, seems to be a mean queen bee, but in reality, she cares about everyone, and does what she can to help.

“Silver has an outside image and an inside one. They never overlap and she’s becoming an expert at juggling her two lives. One is Daddy’s little girl, her mother’s perfect daughter, and the top student, piano player, and classical music lover. The other is everything else. Like listening to rock music and eating Snickers bars in secret. The punches, too. That’s why I did everything to bring them out.”

This book was truly riveting because it was so convoluted, the characters were multi-layered and you don’t see a way out for them to have an HEA. My only drawback was the juvenile dialogues between Cole and Silver. I counted at least fifteen times that Silver answered “I hate you” to Cole, not very imaginative. Also, Cole’s way of calling her attention was to pull on her ponytail. This juvenile interaction was typical between them, and it got tiring.

I loved Cole’s devotion to his mother, sacrificing his comfort for her happiness. Likewise, Silver lived to please her parents, to respect and protect their public personas, given her father was a PM candidate and her mother a prominent politician. She cared for them sometimes to the detriment of her happiness.

You could tell how they were important to each other, their feelings, their obstacles, Cole’s possessiveness and Silver’s jealousness. There were strong feelings between them but also some hostility. The book seemed to stay stagnant, with their back and forth, until about 80%, then the action accelerated and everything seemed to happen in the last 20%. It was a great read, but it could have been better, and Silver could have had better dialogues than “I hate you” answers.
