This was my most anticipated read throughout the whole series, and I can say it was worth all the heightened anticipation and thrill. Ruthless Empire is my favourite nooo in this series as well as Vicious Prince; this book was so much more than the typical reformed mean girl and school horseman; the gut wrenching mind mysteries throughout this book left me questioning absolutely everything. The doll master; someone who preyed off of their fascination with a specific doll- Silver- and discreetly wrote about it using their alter ego- Gav. I would have never guessed Cole’s mother to be the mentally unhinged stalker who for years terrorised Silver after her unfortunate childhood experiences which ultimately resulted in an irrational obsession with dolls. Silver’s character had so much depth as not only was she such a relatable character but she showcases just how difficult keeping up a public image can be and the selflessness she had to act on in order to push away the people she loved the most e.g Kimberly and the whole aspect of politician parents and a taboo step-sibling relationship was really eye opening for Silver as she learned to deconstruct her walls and be herself with the help of Cole, who appears emotionally distant throughout the whole series, making it clear his affection for Silver does not go undermined as he was willing to comfort Silver when she thought she had fallen pregnant or was receiving anonymous texts about her which startled her. It still baffles me how Helen knew all along about her son and Silver’s rendezvous yet all she valued was her derived fascination, just like Cynthia, I believe both Cole and Silver deserved much better mothers and Cynthia was the reason for Silver to facading her emotions from the real world. I also love how I can recall moments from other books falling into the same timeline such as Elsa and Silver’s fight and Eli meeting baby Eli, the banter between the horsemen grown up does not change as this makes the book so much more wholesome after the amount of times I became speechless upon many mind boggling occurrences. This is officially the end of another series I have finished from Rina Kent, following Legacy Of Gods and now I cannot wait to seep into the stories of the other characters including the origins of the Heathens and so many more characters. My favourite quotes from this book are: (1) And yes, I recall every entry I read. I usually memorise anything by reading it once. I took special care of her journal. Now all her words, her vents, and her confusions and fake personality are integrated into my head. When I grow old and my memory starts demanding to delete files to be able to remember others, I'd choose her stupid journal over books by philosophers and psychologists any day. Chaos.
