Ok so like half of this book is basically fact spewing. And there's basically a 60 page flashback story.
These books are easy to charge right into hard and strong but I hit a major wall with this one. This took me weeks (5 to be exact) to get through. It put me in such a reading slump. All because I completely lost interest in this story line.
the grammar and writing in this book can be odd to say the least at times. I understand it's supposed to be more of a children's book but then they turn around and literally talked about beheading.
speaking of which that's another thing. I feel like there are more violent/gory scenes in this book than any of the other ones. It was certainly enough to be noticeable.
I'll just get right into it - why I didn't enjoy this book On the nose. besides the above-noted - there are things in this book I struggled with. It seemed to drag on and on and everything - and at the Finish was completely, abruptly ended. like the real part of the end is about 6 pages long. And there are several references to stories Aslan and the lIke refer to throughout this story that simply are skipped over. I can hope they will be explained in the next three books but we shall see.
okay so right here I wanted to say something about the almost lack of plot! But when I think about it, it does have a Plot - albeit a brief and rather simplistic plot, but my problem is the execution of the plot. the manner in which is explained is too strong out In story-telling and to brief in action.
we don't get to really know any of the characters. I want to say we do with Caspian but actually his involvement in the story is basically condensed to a small chunk. And we only know of the kids what we have already been told - no new real character development there. Other than Susan being a bitch.
--I've sat on this book for a day now and honestly all I've come up with is that I'm so glad to be done with It. It dragged on forever and left me with a bad taste in my mouth towards picking up the next book. I guess we will see how it goes.

I do wish I had read these as a kid, but they are still enjoyable as an adult. Prince Caspian is one of the better books because it returns to the story of Peter, Susan, Lucy and Edmund.
